On Thursday, November 5, at approximately 10:45 a.m. PST, my baby was born! That’s right, at long last, my newest baby, a.k.a. my most recent book, “Just Joshin’” has arrived! I can’t begin to tell you how it feels to see, at long last, the fruits of my labors. Twenty years it took for this event to transpire, an incredible gestation period, for sure! And now I’m enjoying the post-partum elation of a typical proud mama tiger. MY BABY is here!

For those who have not been reading along as I write the past few months, “Just Joshin’, A year in the life of a  not-so-ordinary 4th grade kid,” is a collection of 63 true classroom anecdotes following 9-year-old Josh through his school year, 1989-1990. Putting it all together was a true labor of love.

Yesterday, Friday, November 6, I was interviewed by the local newspaper. When the reporter asked me, “Why Josh? Why not Bill or John or Larry?” I replied, “Josh is a representative of all the wonderful students I taught throughout my 30 years in public education.” Every teacher has many students like Josh over the course of their career. Only this time, I happened to write down the “Josh Stories” to share with my colleagues in the staff room after work. The book almost wrote itself.

If you’re in the area, I invite you to come to the first Book Signing, on Sunday, November 15, from 1 to 4 p.m. at the 2nd Story Playhouse in Ilwaco. If you’re not in the area and would like to order a book (or two!) for yourself and/or the special teachers in your life, Please see the ordering information in the “PAGES” side bar section of this blog.

Meanwhile, I’m happy to have my baby here at home with me, the first book released from Sandridge Publications, but certainly not the last!
