Mick Fleetwood, yes, of the rock band Fleetwood Mac, is alive and well and when not out on tour, resides in Maui, where he owns a very classy restaurant. We were privileged to accidentally be there one night when he was on hand, and listened as he not only welcomed the diners, but implored us all to be good stewards of our environment.

At “Fleetwood’s on Front Street,” you can get a “Hog Burger” for just $38,000. That is not a typo. The burger includes lettuce and tomato, and home delivery of a brand spanking new Harley, signed on the gas tank by Mick himself. And if you want cheese on that burger, it’s a dollar more.

Rick chose Fleetwood’s for his 60th Birthday Dinner, and we got early reservations so we could enjoy some of the entertaining things that make this restaurant very special.

At 6 p.m., a conch shell was blown by an authentically dressed Hawaiian conch-shell blower, and the torches were lit in anticipation of another spectacular sunset and the quickly following nightfall.

Then, because Mick is Scottish by descent, a bagpipe player arrives to play a few tunes. Bagpipes on Maui? Well, why not?!

It was a fabulous evening, and the view of the ocean from the rooftop tables was simply outstanding… Almost as wonderful as Rick’s complimentary chocolate cake dessert! Yummy!

Aloha! Stay tuned!
