That’s right, it’s been two whole months, and I’m still adhering to my health and fitness New Year’s resolution. Hooray for me! I have faithfully followed my food plan, avoided all “covert” sugar, and, thanks to my recumbent bike, I get at least 60 minutes of exercise daily. Sixty days, with no exceptions.

The numbers on the scale continue to move slowly (oh-so-slowly!) toward my goal. In February I lost an average of two pounds a week. That’s eight pounds for the month. My rational mind says, “Atta girl, way to go, whoopee!” My irrational, impatient mind says, “Is that all the better you can do? You’ve been knocking yourself out all month, not a single food slip, and you’ve pedaled your ass clear from here to Boise, and all you lose is a measly eight pounds? What’s wrong with you?!”

Sometimes my irrational, impatient mind is a real pain in the butt.

But sometimes I need that pain in the butt to motivate me further. So starting today, I’m going to initiate some strength-building exercise exercises that I plan to do every other day this month. As Dr. Oz suggests, “going public” with my goal makes me more accountable, and all the more likely to stick with it.

So that’s the plan. Stay tuned for frequent updates!
