My philosophy on politics is the same as it is on sports: I will cheer, but never boo.

Pretty much everyone who knows me at all knows where I stand politically. I make no bones about my preferences, but I do not engage in public character assassinations of anyone, and I have no tolerance for those who do.

I’m particularly dismayed when otherwise intelligent people go so far as to call names and spout insanities to attempt to discredit the person opposing their preferred candidate. It is disrespectful and offensive, it should be beneath them, and it does nothing to promote their own choice.

Yesterday, someone on my Facebook news feed reposted an extremely negative political statement about a candidate I wholeheartedly support. Now, I don’t mind seeing why a person supports a certain candidate, but I certainly don’t need them making statements that are bullying, abusive, and wrong, about mine.

So I blocked them. A simple thing, really, just to push “unsubscribe.” Note that I did not “unfriend” them. I still like them, I just don’t like their politics, so to speak.

Now if I could just find a way to block the Yankees, life would be so good!
