pn_01-1“OMG! They’re not all dead already!”

That was the first thing that popped into my head when I saw the advertisement for “Herman’s Hermits, starring Peter Noone,” performing with the also not-dead Micky Dolenz, the lead vocalist of the former Monkees.

The website claims the Hermits were the original British invasion band of a half century ago. They further state they surpassed the Beatles in 1965 as the best-selling pop act in the United States, a claim I can neither confirm or debate.

I was in 6th grade when “Mrs. Brown You’ve Got a Lovely Daughter,” and “I’m Henry the Eighth, I Am” was all the rage. Odds are, my “musical memory” will kick in, and I’ll be singing along to most of the songs performed by both Peter and Micky.mh401b-82a

Back in the day, I never missed watching The Monkees on television, and I mourned the loss of Davy Jones in 2012, lamenting that there’d never be another “full complement” of Monkees for a reunion. So yes, of course, I’ll “Take the Last Train to Clarksville,” oops, I mean Spirit Mountain Casino, next weekend to enjoy the show!

Whoop-whoop! This is so exciting, I may even break out my 45-year-old bell-bottoms!
