Let’s be perfectly clear about one thing right up front: Nobody died.

Although it might be argued that a few of my friends have thought they had died and gone to heaven after just one bite of my meatloaf. Yes, the recipe is just that good, if I do say so myself.

What is it about meatloaf, anyway? Particularly meatloaf and men.

We’ve all heard the expression that a way to a man’s heart is through his stomach. Inaccurate anatomy aside, there does seem to be some kind of weird direct link between a man’s appreciation for a home-cooked meal and his commitment issues.

I don’t dive into meatloaf making on a regular basis, maybe only three or four times a year. But every so often I get a hankering for it. When I do, I like to invite enough friends for dinner so that I’m not still eating leftovers weeks later.

I just have to be careful not to invite too many single men for dinner. A girl can only fend off so many marriage proposals at one time.
