Every June I head for the serenity of the Wood River Valley in central Idaho. I used to call it my “detox center” after completing another full year of teaching. Today, even in my so-called “retirement,” an Idaho retreat still refreshes and revitalizes me.
A retreat, by definition, is a place affording peace, quiet, privacy, or security. It’s a period of seclusion, retirement, or solitude where one withdraws for prayer, meditation, or study. (That’s right, no cell phone service!)
Yep, I’m gonna go sit in the sun of Sun Valley, read my box of “I’ll get to it later” books, and enjoy having nothing on my to-do list other than relax. It’s a real treat to have few responsibilities and no deadlines for awhile, but rest assured, thanks to global technology, my blog will continue to appear every odd-numbered day.
Life is indeed good.
