Before I took time out in the last blog entry to poetically express my patriotism, I was writing to a definite theme. As you might have suspected, the previous four “Influential Stories” have played a large part in shaping who I am today. If you’ve been “on vacation,” please go back and take a look at “I’ll Take the First Circus,” “Hyacinths to Feed the Soul,” “Make More Pots,” and “Building Cathedrals.”
We never know which people, songs, books, movies, anecdotes, situations, etc. are going to have a lifelong impact on our way of thinking. Makes me pause for a moment to consider what influence my classroom stories might have had on the students I taught for 30 years.
So today I invite you to examine your own philosophy of life: What are your key stories? What has molded you into the terrific person you are today? What has inspired and dictated your way of looking at life?
Just something to think about.
