Way back on November 1, 1999, a friend of mine suggested that I begin keeping a gratitude journal. I remember the exact date because November is the month generally known for “giving thanks” and she challenged me to write 10 gratitudes each evening before bed. Ten different things each night.
“At the end of the month,” she said, “you’ll have a list of 300 things you’re grateful for.” At the time, I couldn’t imagine such a thing.
But today, nearly 12 years later, I faithfully maintain my gratitude journal. And yes, I do repeat some things, but I wouldn’t think of retiring at night before counting my blessings and giving thanks for each and every day on this planet. Granted, some days it’s infinitely harder to focus on the positive, but I know I sleep better because I do this one small thing.
The Law of Attraction tells us that the more we express our gratitude, the more the universe gives us to be grateful for. I do believe it’s true.
