On her 75th birthday, sitting in the stands with her two daughters and one granddaughter, Mom saw her name in lights projected across the scoreboard above centerfield. “It’s just what I’ve always wanted,” she said happily, giving us each a tight squeeze.
Mother has been a baseball fan her entire life, and a Mariner’s fan the entire 34 years of the franchise. Of the 160 televised games each year, I’ll bet she sees 150 of them.
So it’s a no-brainer what to do for Mother’s Day tomorrow. We’ll be sitting right behind the dugout, down close to the field on the first base side. Between the second and third innings I’ll be making a run for garlic fries, and another for hotdogs just before the seventh inning stretch. Win or lose, Mom’s sure to have great day.
But we’d both prefer they win!
