In setting some priorities and goals for the New Year, I took a long, hard look at what I’ve accomplished thus far in my writing career, and what I still want to obtain.
In 2011, I wrote and submitted a short romance story to Woman’s World Magazine each month. To date, I’ve not received an acceptance, but they run about four months behind, so there’s still hope.
I completed my first novel in July, and have been actively pursuing an agent ever since. I am confident, however, that the right representation and publishing house is out there and we’ll meet up any day now. I’m ready to start the second novel in the series, and will do so soon.
“It’s Christmas!,” a 226-page compilation of stories and the scripts from my three one-act holiday plays was published. I didn’t quite break even on this endeavor, but I still have books to sell next year, so the finances will all work out eventually.
“A Christmas Trilogy, Three Holiday One-Acts” was performed at the River City Playhouse the first two weeks of December. Now my goal is to get these plays performed in venues all across the country.
And that brings me to this blog. For three years, I’ve posted every other day. That’s over 550 entries. But based on the current returning readership data, I’m not reaching a whole lot of people. Oh, I’m not giving it up, I’m just cutting back a little. Beginning today, look for my posts on the first of each month and every date that divides by three.
In other words, “If it divides by three, look for me.” That will free up a little more of my time to pursue that perfect agent and get my next novel going, but I will also be maintaining an “online presence” for my future fan club to enjoy.
“It ain’t bragging if it’s true…” Whether attributed to Mohamed Ali or Bear Bryant, I’ll be working hard to make it so. See you on the 6th.
