I had planned to be busily working on my second novel by the time this post was written, but alas, life intervened, and current family drama has temporarily extinguished any embracing of my normally bright, creative light. (How’s that for humble?)

To write the second book in my cozy series will take some real concentration and time dedication, but at this moment, that’s just not possible. Suffice to say reality unfortunately trumps imaginative expression, and leave it at that.

So the time to write has been postponed for a just little while longer, which may actually turn out to be a good thing, in the long run. While the outline sits ready but resting, I’ve been jotting down little notes I want to add to it before I start the actual work.

For instance, just this morning I tripped over a list of the movies that have been at least partially filmed in Astoria. That tidbit of information might come in very handy, considering the primary setting of my book is on the beach during a film shoot.

You just never know what little jewels are going to pop up at exactly the right time and tingle the imagination. So a bit more time to attract those gems will undoubtedly work to my advantage.

Meanwhile, I’ll reluctantly deal with reality. I am confident that this too shall soon pass, and I’ll resume joyfully writing with an even more extended and embellished outline to show for the time away from the manuscript.

Good things come to those who wait, and I have been given the opportunity to practice patience a little while longer while I enjoy watching The Goonies one more time. Which is, now that I think about it, extremely fitting.
