A couple weeks ago, a friend of mine in the local theater group asked me if I would help her create the flyer to advertise an upcoming play. She’s the producer of the production, and she wanted to do something “special.” She had a pretty good idea of exactly what she wanted, so I readily signed on.
Shortly thereafter, I discovered I was in way over my head. I could squeeze all the necessary information onto the flyer alright, but she wanted to use real pictures instead of computer graphics to illustrate it, and I’m not a photographer.
Fortunately, she knew someone who was willing to take the black and white photos she desired, and they were sent to me via email. Unfortunately, had it been left up to me, those photos might still be sitting in my Inbox. Fortunately, I have a friend who is very good at this type of work, so I quickly tapped him for help. Unfortunately, he told me I could never create anything close to her “vision,” because I do not have the computer software to do so. Fortunately, he was willing to do the technical stuff himself.
So when you’re out and about this month and happen to see the flyers advertising “The Fantasticks,” remember how good it is to have friends who step right up when you need them most. Then grab a couple of those friends and come see the show. You’ll love it, your friends will love it, and the Peninsula Players will be very grateful for your support!
