There are those I call “speed racers,” out doing their hurried “walk through” of the holiday bazaar, probably with their purses tucked safely back in the trunks of their cars. When you say hello, they walk on by without even the courtesy of a response. I suppose they think if they are the least bit friendly, you’ll force them to buy something.
Then these are those who want to scrutinize what you have to offer, because they think they can go right home and make one of their own for a lot less money. (Good luck with that!) These are the ones who don’t have the slightest idea how to come up with their own good idea, but they sure think they can do what you do, only better.
And then there are the people who stop to chat with each vendor as they tour the room. Those who are making a day of “bazaar cruising” and are happy for a fresh audience to talk to. They are so much fun to engage in conversation, providing me entertainment, inspiration, and gratitude for all walks of life.
I love hearing these stories, and I love it even more when they decide to buy some of my books to take home to read or give to a friend. Life is so good!
