Ten more days until the end of the world, according to the Mayan Calendar.

So what if it really was true? What would you do with your last 10 days if you knew the end really was that near? I’m sure you’ve speculated on what you would do if you won the lottery, so how about when you know your number has been called?

Personally, I’d start with revisiting the people I haven’t seen or spoken to in way too long. I’d make some amends, eat more chocolate chip cookies, then fly to Italy to greet the apocalypse on a terrace overlooking the Amalfi Coast.

Seriously.

With only days left, I’d forget about my novel in progress, and go out and dance naked along the shoreline of a fabulous tropical island. At night, of course.

I’d buy a fire engine red Corvette and break every speed limit in America. That night I’d gather up some friends and challenge them to sing Karaoke, sober, and make sure they all enjoyed the accolades of a standing ovation.

I’d dye my hair purple and get a tattoo on my right shoulder. No butterflies, roses, or angels for me, I’d perched a fire-breathing dark green dragon there instead!

But the world is not really coming to an end, and on the 23rd it will be business as usual, scrambling for last minute gifts and singing carols with the car radio on the way to the mall. The tattoo will have to wait; I plan on being here for quite a while longer.
