Last night I attended Tony Starlight’s “AM Gold” show at the Venetian Theatre in Hillsboro, Oregon. Normally, Tony Starlight performs at his own 100-seat “Supperclub & Lounge,” but occasionally he gets out of northeast Portland and wows the audiences at a much larger venue, such as The Venetian.

I delighted in Tony’s “Neil Diamond Tribute” at The Venetian last November, and became an instant fan. I couldn’t wait to click “Like” on his Facebook page! Then I saw his “Christmas Extravaganza” in December at the Supperclub. Another phenomenal time. So naturally, I was first in line for this 70s Soft Rock Show.

Tony Starlight makes magic with music, imitating the likes of Elton John, Neil Diamond, Carol King, Jim Croce, Little River Band, Carly Simon, Gordon Lightfoot, Paul Simon, Barry Manilow and Billy Joel. Not only his music, but his humor, fully engages the audience, and the evening was over much too soon.
This is/was my kind of music, and I could sing along with most every song, just like I sang with the radio throughout the 70s. It was a fabulous evening, and one I won’t soon forget. Thanks, Tony, for “giving me the beat, boys, to free my soul, I really got lost in your rock and roll, and drifted away…” !
