In every organization, there are the people behind the scenes, suiting up and showing up without fail, making sure everything is running smoothly in the public eye. Our own Peninsula Church Center in Seaview has a classic example of The Church Ladies at their finest.
If you like pie—and who doesn’t?—come on by this Friday and Saturday, 10 to 4, for pie and coffee and a gander at this year’s Holiday Bazaar. Karen Brownlee has done an excellent job of organizing the event, and Marge Beard has promised to save me a piece (or two) of her awesome strawberry rhubarb dessert.
I’ve recently volunteered to proofread the “Messenger”—the monthly news update from the three church groups peacefully co-residing in the building. (An excellent example of utilizing resources!) Proofreading is a job I actually enjoy, and I look forward to working with the likes of “The Holy Folders.”
Our beloved Martha Murfin passed away in August, and I’m volunteering, in part, to honor her memory. A mentor, and in my eyes always a true saint, she typified what being a Church Lady is all about, and we could all take a page from her book in helping others.
So come on by the Peninsula Church Center’s bazaar, this Friday and Saturday, 10 to 4, and sneak a peek at The Church Ladies. You can even get your pie (along with my books, of course) “to go!”
