Whole days have been disappearing right before my eyes. What the heck happened? Where did they go? One moment it’s a glorious morning full of promise and excitement, with hours stretched out in front of me waiting to be productively claimed, and the next moment I’m wondering what to fix for dinner. Bodda-bing—gone! Just like that.
So I went looking for those days when it seems I’ve accomplished nothing. I got serious about it and dug into my work journal, calendar pages, checkbook—anywhere I thought I mind some clues as to where I’ve been spending too much of my time.
If I could just plug up the obvious black holes of my day, perhaps I’d have more to show for my efforts at the end of the week. And guess what? I spent several hours on this investigative research and discovered—it was time to fix something for dinner.
Aha! The answer lies in my research! Research, whether it be for my blog, my book publishing, my insatiable curiosity, I’ve been spending hours and hours each day with my new best friend: Google! And one thing always leads to another… Always.
Makes me wonder how much smarter I am now than before Google. With all the hours I spend fiddlefarting around the Internet, I must have gained at least a few IQ points. I wonder if there’ve been any studies on that particular phenomena.
I think I’ll have to go look that up…
