This weekend, the 21st Annual “Writers’ Weekend at the Beach” takes place in Ocean Park, at the Methodist Retreat Center. I was invited to come teach “How to Write for Chicken Soup.” … Like I need more competition??
But of course, I’m delighted to participate in this conference right in my own backyard, so to speak. There’ll be eight of us “instructors” and somewhere between 40 and 60 other attendees. I really like hanging out with this group, although as a group, they are a great deal more “religiously oriented” than I am. That fact notwithstanding, I have a great time rubbing elbows with other writers, and by osmosis, almost like magic, I never fail to learn a few things to bring back home.
I encourage all those who dabble with writing to find a conference, or two or three, to treat yourself to this year. It’s time well-spent, and your writing batteries are sure to be recharged for another few rounds at the solitary keyboard.
And if you’re in the neighborhood, come join us!
