Turns out it was actually Monday, July 21, 1969, at 2:56:15, a.m., GMT. That’s Greenwich Mean Time. And I suppose that’s how it should be recorded, although throughout the United States it was still July 20th. Until the moment I looked this up, it had never crossed my mind to consider time zones regarding the hallmark event. So I learned something today.
“That’s one small step for man…” Today that phrase would most likely be politically challenged. Unless, of course, you do not believe men or women have actually visited the moon, and the whole thing is one hugely bogus political scam.
In that case, you’re probably among those who take the movie “Capricorn One” as gospel, so it doesn’t matter one whit if it’s PDT or GMT or any other zone—except one:
