First off, please note that this day celebrates more than one president, and therefore the apostrophe goes after the “s”.
Secondly, any day spent in a hospital has its challenges, and holidays compound the problems. This was Day Seven for my friend Rick, and when I arrived loaded down with food and other amenities not available in a hospital on a holiday, at least I gave him something to laugh about.
With luck, and providing his blood numbers and fluid levels are still in the normal range (they were today, but it’s a holiday, so here we sat), Rick will finally be able to have his procedure. Then… Then we will know the next steps that must be taken. One day at a time.
I have high regard for medical professionals, and have met some really caring nurses and CNAs this past week. Even on weekends and holidays!
