Writing down your goals makes them real. You’re not just blowing smoke anymore, you’re actually committing your plan to paper. Then when you “publically” share the list of what you’re aiming to do, you suddenly begin to feel more “responsible” for following through.
And that’s a good thing.
Motivation, inspiration, encouragement, support, and finding the elusive “mojo” to keep pushing forward are all important aspects of accomplishing any task. Knowing this, I’m going to put my own words into action.
For the next six months, I will continue writing my “every-third-day” blog and submit at least one story to Chicken Soup for the Soul every month.
By the end of March, I will take my weight loss story from “first draft” through the editing and rewrite stages, and with a lot of help, will publish it as an eBook.
By the end of May, I will have done the “FINAL” polish on BOTH of my first two mystery novels. In May, I will publish them and by the end of June I will start the third book in the series.
That’s the plan… And yes, it’s quite daunting, especially since there are so many non-writing things that will capture my attention and need doing… Things like speaking at the “Women’s Show” in Tenino and attending the KCACTF in Boise—both in February.
These two road trips, along with the local “Convergence of Authors” event in early March, will certainly move me further along with my writing career goals, but they also “get in the way” of putting my butt in the chair and my fingers on the keyboard.
So we’ll see how it shakes out. July first, we’ll all see how many things I’ve accomplished and have happily crossed off this list!
