Yes, it’s true, I’ve (conservatively) “pimped out” my Mustang, and forgive me if adding the parenthetical aside to that statement makes it read like a total oxymoron.
I’ve been easing myself into the bling thing for a couple years now, starting with my eyeglasses. So it was a HUGE step for me to strip off the flat back rally stripes and add the glittery metallic blues ones to my car. (Photos don’t do the sparkle justice!)
In a previous life, I was probably a magpie—bold colors and lots of bright glitter have always drawn my attention. So as soon as I decided to buy this car, I knew the dull flat black rally stripes would have to go. I mean seriously, why in the world would anyone put flat black rally stripes on a Kona blue car in the first place? The word “MUSTANG” didn’t even show up on the side panels!
Now it does! As if the personalized license plate weren’t enough, I may be driving the only Mustang in the entire Pacific Northwest whose rally stripes sparkle like the effervescent waters off Maui. My car is truly unique, just like me!
I’ve had the car three months now, and I’ve obsessed over swapping out the stripes the entire time. I wanted to make sure that what I selected would keep my car totally classy. One customer at the shop suggested I go with white or silver stripes, but there’s no way I’d cheapen up its look like that.
In a few weeks, I’ll be turning 60. I have the home I want, the car I want, the body I want (tattoo and all!), my knees are doing well due to the weight loss, and my overall life is pretty darn good. So I say, “Let the ‘Midlife Celebration’ continue!”
Bling it on!
