The mind is never idle, and as I sat the last six weekends at six different holiday bazaars, it occurred to me that The Lavender Lady, often setting up her wares at a table near mine, was always dressed in lavender.

What a concept, huh? I immediately wanted a signature color for myself! Well, why not? Professional sports teams have colors, high schools and colleges have colors, even weddings and church choirs have colors, so why not writers and book vendors?

I took a good look at the background color of my JanBonoBooks.com business card, then at my jacket, then finally at the striped sweater I was wearing and… Voila! I already had a signature color without even being conscious of it!

Naturally, I rushed right out to purchase embroidered polo shirts in the appropriate color. And here’s where I discovered that teal is not always teal. Sometimes it’s aqua. Sometimes it’s turquoise. And sometimes, in the infinite wisdom of the polo shirt manufacturers, it’s called “Maui Blue.”

Nevertheless, I now have an official business logo shirt (in my official signature color which I choose to call teal), to wear whenever there’s an opportunity to subtly advertise my website. And of course, I bought earrings to match!

The Lavender Lady’s got nothing on me!
